Applied Cognitive Solutions (ACS) is
a specialized Information Technology (IT) firm focusing on computer forensics, data recovery,

by the Private Security Bureau of the Texas Department of Public Safety, with Texas License #A14733.
In computer forensics, also known as computer evidence or data forensics, ACS has conducted
a number investigations for Fortune 500 corporations, law
firms, and individuals. We've assisted clients by providing
turnkey projects,
from initial data acquistion to gathering computer evidence
to testifying at trial. We also offer specific litigation
support services as needed, such as making forensic images
of hard disk drives.
In data recovery, we've managed computer
data recovery projects for hundreds of corporations, not-for-profit
organizations, governmental agencies, small businesses,
and individuals. Among ACS data recovery clients are some of the largest

world and the best-known
organizations in Houston and Texas.
In technology consulting, we've worked
with a variety of organizations to develop solutions and
deliver results utilizing our expertise in computer forensics
and data recovery. Currently,
ACS is extending our service offerings to include eDiscovery consulting.
We maintain state-of-the-art computer tools, techniques, software,
and equipment in our Houston center, located near the intersection
of Loop 610 and U.S. 59. ACS also has established
relationships with strategic partners in the computer, computer data recovery,

ACS professional staff are experienced
consultants in Information Technology, focusing on the
areas of data forensics, computer data recovery, and technology
consulting. We also hold office in organizations such as ISSA
and HTCIA and are members of other organizations such as ARMA and InfraGard.
Formed in 1999, Applied Cognitive Solutions is a woman-owned business and a small business.
President Jerlyn Mardis has managed a consulting
practice since 1983. She earned a BA and MBPM from Rice University
and has taught in the Jones Graduate School of Management (JGSM) at Rice
and the Cameron School of Business at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
Currently she is a Lecturer at Rice and a member of a JGSM Action Learning Project
faculty team. In 2008 Jerlyn will serve
as 1st Vice President of the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the
High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA).
Chief Scientist Dr. Rich Murphey holds an MS and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering
from Rice University and certifications in computer forensics (ACE) and information security (CISSP). Best
known for open-source contributions as a co-founder of the FreeBSD Unix operating system and
the Xfree86 Project window system, Rich has more than 20 years of experience in software development.
